Together for Hope is Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s rural poverty initiative, a 20-year commitment to offer hope to people in and around 20 of the poorest counties in the U.S. The goal is to work with local residents, state and regional CBF groups, churches and other organizations to maximize local resources and empower community members. Our church has taken teams of more than 10 volunteers each year to work in house repair, church construction, literacy, food supply, recreation, Vacation Bible School and economic development. This is an inter-generational mission trip that allows families to participate together.
Baptists on Mission, one of the most organized and action-oriented groups in the country. Our church has dozens of congregants who spend countless hours volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and other construction projects. We have men who faithfully work with our young people through Royal Ambassadors, teaching Sunday School and as counselors for youth and college mission trips. They have started small groups for study and fellowship and sponsor mission activities like our AIDS, clothing, and homeless ministries. They also go on mission trips to Honduras, Arkansas, Kiev, and many other places.
For over 20 years, our congregation has had a close partnership serving alongside the local residents of Honduras. We have traveled to the remote villages of Altos de Santa Marta and El Carrizo in southern Honduras, doing construction work and teaching backyard Bible clubs. What began as a hurricane relief trip has continued through the years with partnerships through Baptists on Mission and Sharefish. Through the work of Sharefish, we continue taking trips to build one-room libraries, creating a sustainable educational future for the children of Honduras.
