HELP US CONTINUE THE WORK OF COMPASSION

Sometimes, one unexpected event is all it takes to turn a family's financial stability upside down. A car accident, a medical emergency, or an unforeseen expense can quickly create a ripple effect, leaving families struggling to meet even their most basic needs. As a reminder, our church continues to partner with Edenton Street UMC and First Presbyterian Church to provide emergency benevolence funding for our neighbors in need of rental and utility assistance.

Recently, our church had the opportunity to assist a single mother of two whom we'll call Michelle. After experiencing a car accident, Michelle faced additional financial hardship when her vehicle was repossessed, costing $2,100 to recover. With a seven-month-old baby whose formula costs approximately $120 each week, groceries to purchase, and bills piling up, she soon found herself behind on rent. Through the Fellowship Fund, First Baptist was able to provide $1,200 in rental assistance. Michelle contributed the remaining balance, and together, we helped her family remain in their home.

This is what the Fellowship Fund makes possible. So far in 2026, our church has provided $14,247.31 in financial assistance to families in desperate need. These numbers represent more than dollars distributed. They represent neighbors who have received help keeping a roof over their heads, maintaining essential utilities, and finding some breathing room during difficult seasons. It is one of the tangible ways we live out our calling to love our neighbors—not simply with words, but with meaningful action.

The need for assistance continues, and our ability to respond depends on the generosity of this congregation. Every dollar given to this fund helps ensure that when a neighbor reaches out for help, we have the resources to respond with compassion and care.
