Our third—fifth graders had a wonderful time at our fall children's retreat at Kanata last weekend! With the theme of Friends Are Good, we looked at stories of how Jesus was a friend to those around him. We explored the example of how Jesus helped his disciples when they were in a boat on a stormy sea, of how Jesus offered comfort and peace when they were afraid. We explored the example of Jesus seeking out Zacchaeus among the crowd, of calling him by name and wanting to spend time with him, of helping him feel that he belonged, even when others around him felt differently. And while we were learning about what it means to be a good friend, we canoed, cooked, swam, fished, crafted, played putt-putt and basketball and GaGa ball and had a fabulous time together! Many thanks to our fabulous chaperones who went with us: Charlotte Phillips, Wade Sasser, and Wyatt Yelverton! |
