BREATHING SPACE: CHURCHWIDE RETREAT WITH GUY SAYLES | MARCH 20-22

We are looking forward to our churchwide intergenerational spring retreat this year in the beautiful North Carolina mountains. Mark your calendars now for March 20–22 at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, NC! In a world that feels increasingly busy, chaotic, noisy, and overwhelming, our churchwide retreat theme this year is setting aside a sacred pause — Breathing Space. Together, we will explore the gift of Sabbath rest — what it means to slow down, to be present with God and one another, and to rediscover rhythms of grace in the midst of our daily lives. This weekend is designed for connection, renewal, reflection, and joy, with space for worship, conversation, play, and rest.

We are honored to welcome Guy Sayles as our retreat leader. Following a 13-year pastorate at First Baptist Church in Asheville and four years on the faculty of Mars Hill University’s religion department, Guy has become a trusted coach, teacher, and consultant for countless congregations. He currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Divinity School of Gardner-Webb University, working with D.Min. students and teaching congregational leadership while continuing his work in preaching, writing, and spiritual formation.

This year we have reserved the entire Blue Ridge Center. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, telephones, two beds, and private baths — hotel-style accommodations. We have handicapped-accessible rooms available and elevator access to all floors. The dining hall is located inside the Blue Ridge Center, as well as all of our meeting spaces that we’ll be using for worship, small groups, and electives. Youth can attend without their parents as long as we have individuals who are dedicated to chaperoning during free times and transitions. Our time together will begin after supper on Friday and will end after worship on Sunday morning.

The cost of the weekend for all adults aged 12 and up is listed below. Children three and under are free! Two nights lodging + four meals + supplies will be:

• Single room – $375/per adult
• Two per room – $235/per adult
• Three per room – $195/per adult
• Four per room – $180/per adult
• Two per room – $200/per child (ages 4–11)
• Three per room – $155/per child (ages 4–11)
• Four per room – $135/per child (ages 4–11)
• Family cap = $750

For example, the total cost for 2 people in one room is $470 (235+235). The total cost for 2 adults and 2 children in one room is $630 (180+180+135+135). A non-refundable deposit of $100 (per registration/family) will secure your spot. The deposit may be paid by cash, check (memo: churchwide retreat), or online. Register by visiting our website. The registration deadline is Monday, February 23! After you have registered and paid your deposit, Leah will follow up with you via email with the amount owed. Payment in full is due no later than Sunday, March 1.
