ADULT CENTERPOINT PROGRAMS FOR MARCH

As we enter the season of Lent, we invite you to join us on Wednesday nights in March for a series of meaningful conversations, learning opportunities, and community gatherings for adults.

March 4 & 11: Lenten Study: We will begin the month with a two-week study titled Wendell Berry and the Sabbath Poetry of Lent. Together we will explore the poetry of Wendell Berry—particularly his Sabbath poems—and consider how they invite us into deeper reflection, rest, and attentiveness to God during this sacred season of Lent. Berry’s Sabbath poems were written as a spiritual practice of slowing down and paying attention to the presence of God in creation and daily life. During Lent, a season that calls us to reflection and renewal, these poems offer a gentle yet powerful invitation to pause, listen, and rediscover the grace of Sabbath. LaCount Anderson will teach on March 4, and Dennis Ellis on March 11.

March 18: Community Partner: Shirnetta Harrell will join us from the No Woman No Girl Initiative. NWNG is a nonprofit based in Raleigh that provides essential hygiene products to women in need. As the founder and Executive Director, Shirnetta will share about the organization’s work and the ongoing need for dignity-centered support for women in our community. In April, our churchwide mission project will focus on collecting hygiene supplies for this initiative; more details will be shared soon!

March 25: Mental Health: Burlington-based counselor Nathan Blake will lead a workshop titled Thin Spaces, Thick Emotions: Finding God When It’s Hard To Feel Okay. Loneliness, anxiety, and depression are more common than many of us realize—even in the pews beside us. This workshop will help lay leaders recognize signs of struggle, respond with compassion, and walk alongside others without trying to “fix” them. Together we’ll explore spiritual and practical tools for offering presence, hope, and connection, as well as ways to care for your own mental and emotional well-being.

Every Wednesday night session in March will be offered virtually.
