Stewardship Campaign for 2027 Budget

Hello friends,

As we move into this season of discernment and consider the church’s budgetary needs, it is important to remind ourselves that we are caretakers of not only a present-day community devoted to serving God, but also a great legacy. Organized in 1812 with only 23 people, the First Baptist Church of Raleigh first met in the North Carolina State House (built 1792-1796). Later, meetings took place in Baptist Grove, now known as the Moore Square area. Then finally, the sanctuary still in use for worship today was completed in 1859. The Lewis Education Building was added in 1971. As the church grew, it was instrumental in planting several new Baptist churches in the Wake County area. This rich history reflects a strong devotion to past stewardship as well as our current stewardship theme for 2026:

Better Together. Love. Community. Gratitude.

Simple words but very powerful.

Better Together. Working together, we can strive to be the church in the world and achieve much more than we can as individuals.

Love. Love for God’s commandment to love one another. Love for God and for each other.

Community. Community for friends and relationships formed within our church family that enrich our lives and strengthen our faith. Group activities such as Senior 39ers and youth retreats give us regular opportunities to strengthen our bonds to one another. Events like the Service of Hope and Remembrance provide us with meaningful ways to remember our lost loved ones and care for those who may be grieving. Community that extends far beyond our church walls into the wider Raleigh and Wake County areas with ministries such as White Flag, Toy Joy, Meals on Wheels, And Also with ‘Cue food truck, and the Clothing Ministry.

Gratitude. Gratitude for one another, our leaders, and those past stewards who have generously gifted us the church we are fortunate to call ours.

As we consider our stewardship theme for 2026, may we also remember Colossians 3:15-17:

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him”.

The final budget will be presented on November 18th. Please prayerfully consider your financial contribution for the coming year and return your pledge card by November 21, 2026.
