PILGRIMAGE TO SCOTLAND — SUMMER 2027
We are excited to announce plans for a churchwide pilgrimage to the historic Iona Abbey in Scotland next summer! Nestled on a small island off Scotland's west coast, Iona has been a place of prayer, hospitality, learning, and spiritual renewal for nearly 1,500 years. In A.D. 563, the Irish monk Columba and a small community of companions arrived on the island. They established a monastery that became one of the most influential centers of Christian faith in the British Isles. From Iona, missionaries traveled throughout Scotland and beyond, sharing the gospel and building communities of faith. Though the abbey experienced centuries of decline following the Reformation, the site was restored in the twentieth century and continues to draw pilgrims from around the world.
Today, the Iona Community is known for its commitment to justice, peace, reconciliation, worship, and hospitality. Many Christians find in Iona a unique blend of ancient faith and contemporary discipleship. A pilgrimage is more than a trip. It is an opportunity to step away from daily routines, travel with intention, deepen relationships, and open ourselves to God's presence in new ways.
