SEPTEMBER CENTERPOINT PROGRAMMING
Beginning tonight, September 9, we're hosting a variety of programs for adults that we hope will inspire dialogue, service in our community, and building connections throughout our congregation. Join us in the fellowship hall from 6–7:15pm!
September 16 – Speaker Panel: Hayden James, long-time FBC member, will present on his recent training to become a Stephen Minister. He will be joined by Martha Barrick, Ron Bostick, and Bobby Simpson, who are Stephen Leaders at their respective churches; Martha and Bobby at Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, and Ron at Resurrection Lutheran in Cary. In addition, Ron and Bobby co-lead the Triangle Area Stephen Ministry Network (TASMN), a nonprofit comprised of representative Stephen Leaders from close to 60 participating Stephen Ministry congregations, from various denominations, scattered throughout the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area of Central North Carolina. Stephen Ministry is a church-based, one-to-one Christian caregiving program for people who are going through a hard time. Congregations train volunteer lay members—called Stephen Ministers—to meet regularly with someone who needs emotional and spiritual support. It is organized through Stephen Ministries, a nonprofit Christian training organization founded in 1975. Zoom available; link below.
October 7—Mission Project: Cards for Toy Joy. We’ll spend the evening creating cards to welcome and encourage our Toy Joy guests. Come ready to lend a little creativity and help us prepare for this meaningful ministry of our church.
October 14 & 21—Book Study: The End of Civility with Dr. Ryan Newson. Author and theologian Dr. Ryan Newson will join us for a two-week study of his book, The End of Civility. Together, we’ll explore what civility means from a Christian perspective and consider the challenging question of when civility contributes to the common good—and when calls for civility might actually stand in the way of justice.
October 28—Church Conference
Whether you can join us for one Wednesday or all four, we hope you’ll find your place at Centerpoint this October. Come for supper and stay for the conversation!
Join us via Zoom with this link!
Please note that the Zoom link for all Centerpoint programming will be the same each week; however, we will have a different link for church conference.
