Preschool began September 6th and is off to a wonderful start. We currently serve 32 children (26 families) in preschool this year. Preschool is an outreach of the church with dedicated staff members an a great group of children and their families. We currently still have a few vacancies and would love to have the chance to serve even more families. Please contact Crystal Bacon with any questions, or interest in the program at

Our Preschool is a ministry of First Baptist Church located in downtown Raleigh. Our mission here at FBP is to provide a high-quality, low-cost preschool program to children regardless of race, gender, or creed. Our goal is to enhance the growth and development of each child by offering a developmentally appropriate curriculum that focuses on the “process” of learning in a play environment, as well as supporting the family in its child-rearing role, all in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating, Christ centered environment. I look forward to welcoming you to this special place.

Our school hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Lunch is provided each day and is covered in the cost of tuition. Our classes participate in monthly music instruction and in creative movement instruction, and Spanish. Each class also shares in chapel twice a month led by our very own ministers here at First Baptist Church. Each day our children enjoy the fenced in playground area complete with climbing structures and rubber mulch. Because of our fabulous downtown location, we are close to many of the museums and other fun preschool destinations. Our older classes frequently enjoy walking over to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences for story time while the younger classes may enjoy a stroll in the buggy around the Capitol grounds to observe the seasonal changes.

We encourage parent participation in our school and welcome volunteers. We believe that parent involvement has a direct link to students’ future success in schools and therefore welcome parents. This unique gift allows for parents to really connect with teachers, and other parents as well as being supported in their preschool journey. We also occasionally offer parenting workshops or book clubs to take advantage of while your child is in class.

Our teachers are highly qualified and dedicated to providing a nurturing and welcoming place where learning is fun! We have a very low turnover rate here and all teachers have many years of experience in their field as well as a higher education degree in education or a related field. We all complete professional development each year in order to stay current, and continue learning. We are so excited that we will have a carpool line this year! This will greatly help families with ease of drop off and pick up times. We are one of the only schools in the area offering lunch. We are excited to have a certified chef on staff that went to Culinary School in France and has a passion for fresh and nutritious foods that are not processed. Have a special skill or talent? We would love for you to come in and share it. Here at FBP we value our parents and love to have you come share the gifts God has given you with our little ones. We have several family events planned throughout the year including a trip to the Farmer’s Market, Morning with Mommy, Donuts with Daddy, Thanksgiving Feast and a silent auction, and so much more! On the move… we love to visit the NC Museum of Natural Sciences for story time, or for a closer look at some of the animals or other concepts we are studying in class.
